Change Your Families History
So both sides of your grand parents had diabetes eh? Well heres a way for it to not happen to you and keep the tradition going. Make a new one! And pass the healthy family tradition on down to the next generation- and so on.
First things first. You must change all grains to Whole. Whats the point in eating something that doesn't do any good for you anyway? Thats right, nothing! So that means get Brown rice, Whole Wheat Tortillas, Whole Wheat Pasta, Bread, Crackers,English Muffins, Bagels. And yes- they make all of it.
And yes it is a big deal to change it. It really is. This bothers me more than the meat consumption of people. Switch your freaking grains to whole. It's so easy! Today I went to Chipotle, and decided to skip out on the tortilla, since lamely enough- they still don't have a whole wheat tortilla option... and went to Albertson's , and got low carb high fiber tortillas, and believe me it was just as good- actually better.
The only reason I preach to you about this- is because I care. People either seem to care about themselves or their just plain ignorant. There are all kinds of factors playing for you and your destiny for your health. But whole grains are one. Reasoning : diabetes, for one. It might just help you lose weight to. So why not try it!? Higher Fiber content is what you need to look out for in your daily diets. Fiber helps you stay fuller as well as protein. Their are tons of fiber in whole grains, not white carbs. Sorry white carbs (But, I hate you). They're just kinda evil, thats all. Us good people in the world, trying to live a long life, and there has to be all kinds of things out there that are just normal-ly (bad for you). So please,If you do one good thing for yourself today- eat some whole grains!
Other things that will also help you prevent and decrease your chance of diabetes:
Lose weight- you know if you need to or not.( and if you need to know how, ask me)
Stop Soda.
Be more active. -excercise regularly.
Lower Red Meat- Increase Nuts :) less fat, more omegas.
Lift weights make more muscle.
