Black Beans & Brown Rice
It just needs a little sprucing up and you've got yourself a very filling meal, and very healthy one at that.
I learned recently- for vegetarians, that 'complete proteins' are something you can also make just by combining certain foods together. Certain things are already complete proteins, of course, such as-
meat and poultry, and also egg whites which is the highest of all complete proteins. BUT. Since I'm speaking on vegan terms here- for this month, that is...Quinoa, Hemp Seeds,Soy beans, Buckwheat and Amaranth, are also complete proteins. Which is nice for us vegetarians. Meaning you could eat this- and have all of your essential amino acids to cover your bodies needs.
Also- like I was about to say, combining food... Certain foods you can combine to create a 'complete protein'. Like this meal for instance is one, also any beans and rice, beans and seeds, beans and nuts and beans and grains.
Examples- Hummus and whole grain crackers. Tortillas with beans. Almond butter on whole grain bread, etc. You get what I mean.
Basically- this is very simple and easy for me to get protein, while becoming Vegan for this month of Janvier. So don't worry about me. But ya'll need to jump on the bandwagon with me!
