"Little Bit" by Lykke Li is one of my favorites.
Her song meaning is totally no relation to this blog post meaning, just hope you might check out the song via Itunes if you've never heard it before- after you read this blog, that is. ;)
This picture above - is soooooo good. I work at a very healthy grocery store, that sells this in house made salad. And it's amazing. It's
Red Quinoa
Mango
Edamame
Balsamic Vinegar
Red Onions
Bell Peppers
Lime Juice
and Cilantro
which means it's high in protein, and as I said, high in really good flavor. ;) Seems very easy to make, so you should try it.
My entire post name is inspired by a little bit of this and a little bit of that- is ok. Just as long as it truly is 'a little bit'. For instance it's ok if you have a piece of chocolate, but if that turns into a piece of fried chicken and a piece of chip and chocolate cake, french fry, etc. all in one day, then NO Mr. You've totally read me wrong. What I mean is, sure enjoy a random one bite of something- that you may love, then drop and let it be over with. I highly recommend skipping it all together if you can- cause after a while you won't even want it anymore. Buttttt since we are human, and were not robots after all. I get that a craving is a craving is a craving. You either go with it or you fight it. You know when it is right to go with it or not.
I yesterday, actually had a craving for meat, which is weird, but I went with it. To me- it's a craving from my body. I know I haven't had any meat in a very long time, so perhaps my body is asking for it, and not my mind. My mind knows I need to keep meat to a minimum, once or twice a week. To meet my own standards. For everyone -they should eat the minimum. Which is believe me, not as much as you probably think.
And on a another note. Here is my protein green smoothie.
Same green smoothie- just added some 17g scoop of vegan protein to it.
What's inside?
1 Banana
3/4 cup frozen blueberries
few strawberries
1 cup almond milk
2 handfuls spinach
1 handful kale
(what can I say, I love my greens !)
and one more for the recipe record. This was borrowed from OSG, of course, it didn't come out exactly like hers, But still- mine was gooooooood. Cornbread- always good. Crispy Flatbread Corn bread=awesome. My throat has been sore, so I made soup and this crispy cornbread and it def helped my mood a lot. Thanks Cornbread! Love you! -I also added a lotttt of cayenne pepper to my soup and also kale and spinach. It soothed my throat (the cayenne).
Cornbread recipe
1/4 cup + 2 tbspcornmeal
1/4 cup + 2 tbsp whole wheat flour
3/4 cup water
2 tbsp cane sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tbsp coconut oil or earth balance butter (i used coconut oil)
-1/2 tbsp coconut oil to coat pan with.
Preheat oven to broil
microwave batter for 60 secs before putting in pan
10-15 min
depending on your oven it could take that time, or longer. so keep an eye out until edges are browned or black:)
and another one: pesto
my favorite.
This is very simple, thats why I love it
4 cloves of garlic
2 handfuls of spinach
splash of lemon juice
4 tbsp of olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
and you can add it to whatever you'd like, not just pasta. I've made wraps and also rice mixtures with this. Hey- pesto is pesto, it's good with anything. I love. mhmmmm.
Grilled Tofu with 2 tbsp of my all famous pesto and about a cup of brown rice mix
