I always here people say its discouraging when deciding to try and go vegan. They don't know what to eat, run out of ideas, etc, etc. But people, please, let me give you a glimmer of hope! Because when theres a will, there is a way ;) All these green, plant based, and vegan diet books are great, don't get me wrong. But to be real- people looking to go on a diet, with no guidelines, are lost. I myself was included in that group. But I decided to combine information from non vegan diets, and put it together. Thus, creating this plan. It has no name, nor do I plan on branding it with my name anytime. It's just what I know works for myself. And if you really commit to it, I'm sure it'll work for you. But lets get one thing strait- usually people on a 'diet' get a little crazy and want to go nuts after a few days. Have strength!!! Find your will power. Dig down deep in yourself and find that place that truly wants something so much. For YOU. Not for anyone else, but you. You are so worthy of being in good shape and feeling great. People love you so much and want you to be on this planet for the longest time. Take care of yourself, and I promise you can change your life.
First off- The guidelines. Yes I'm sorry. But we all need a little discipline. And not all of us are so great at it on our own. So lets remember this when you read this the first time, and if not, come back and read it again if your feeling weak.
How many times do I eat/calories?
I'm not asking you to count calories here, but please, be mindful. You know what is to much!
You will need to eat every 2-4 hours to turn your metabolism around. And no eating after about 9 pm. (3 hours before bed time) Also pick 1 time out of the 3 meals and 2 snacks, to have a complex carb. I usually pick breakfast or lunch. It seems to always be Ezekiel bread. My favorite healthy bread! Veggies are at your disclosure, have as many as you want. But try and steam them instead of sauté.
Every meal should have some sort of protein. And most meals should contain greens! And like I said, 1 meal can contain a carb.
Alcohol
IF you can handle to not surpass 1 drink a day, than fine. 1 glass of red wine is ok. But, I suggest if you know yourself well enough to know that you can't do that. Save it for your one indulgence day.
Indulge Day
Pick one time a week, where maybe you'd like to have wine with dinner. More than one glass. Or a dessert, or a dinner you really would like to have out in a restaurant. Just one time a week where you'd like to not have to think about what you ate earlier. You know what I mean ;)
Exercise
1 hour of getting your heart rate up a day. And after you eat dinner at night, it's a real nice way to end the night by going on a 15-20 minute walk afterwards. I highly suggest that. Also walking boosts serotonin, which in return makes you happier : )
So now that we've got that settled. Here is what my day was today. And I hope this inspires you and will help you on your way !
Breakfast
2 pieces of Ezekiel bread with 2 tbsp almond butter 1 banana sliced on top, sprinkled with chia seeds and cinnamon.
Snack
Non dairy yogurt (of your choice) with blueberries
Lunch
Steamed Kale topped with Black beans, Carrots & my Cashew Cheeze (very easy to make).
Snack
Vega Protein pack mixed with water. and 1/4 of my Raw Avocado Brownie.
Dinner
Raw Kelp noodles with my Thai almond sauce, steamed broccoli, topped with shredded carrots.
* So there you have it. A day in the life. I hope this helps you...
There are several variations you can use depending on what you like. Such as Tofu Scramble for breakfast, or a green protein smoothie. and vegan sandwich for lunch. spaghetti squash with vegan pesto for dinner, or tofu/tempeg with steamed veggies. Snacks could be vegan protein bar, such as PureFit (my favorite!) or fruit with nuts. Hummus with veggies.
It's all up to you and your tasted buds :) Wish you the best!
