Starting off this post with a quote.
I have had one crazy week, and it's still not over. Just because it's friday. Today was actually my day off. I work 2 jobs and on the side of that I'm a starving actress. But not really starving, full kind of, to be honest. ;) After making home made popcorn that is. My best friend has been making home-made popcorn for a while now, and for some reason I've been hesitant to try it my own home myself. It seemed hard and difficult from an outsiders prospective. BUT good news, it's the easiest thing ever. Like seriously. Very very easy. All you need is a big pot. She got creative and bought BBQ seasoning from Whole Foods and uses coconut oil also. I love coconut oil by the way, so of course I chose to copy her recipe to the T.Except I added one thing, and if you know me, you know a dish isn't a dish without it for me- spicy. ;) Yes, my dear friend cayenne pepper made its debut into my lovely home made popcorn. With of course salt and the BBQ spice my best friend uses. It was great! Nothing better than home made popcorn. Because microwave popcorn is a terrible thing to me. I burn it almost every time- and there are always soooo many kernels left in there. So thank you best friend, thank you. Not to mention it is her birthday today, so everyone send out a positive vibe and good thoughts to her to enjoy the rest of her day and this weekend with her soon to be husband. Yes indeed, she is soon to be married as well. A big year for her! <3
So today for lunch, I went to eat lunch with her and another friend to celebrate with her for a birthday meal! It was at Seed Bistro, really nice peaceful macrobiotic cafe. She tried something new this time, the blackened tempeh burger, but me and my other friend went with what she usually gets, the Kale salad. The name doesn't do it justice. It's really great. So many flavors. My friend and I were discussing how it'd be easy to make at home, of course!
Kale, nori strips, tamari almonds, quinoa, avocado, tahini dill dressing.
I will soon try to make a copy cat recipe of course ;]
I'm keeping my life vegan this days. It helps I think. I have a lot of stress coming from 2 jobs and sometimes 3 when I work on set, etc. It's hard to always be able to workout but as long as I eat healthy, my health stays good. Avoiding dairy really helps me from not getting sick- as hard as it was to let go of cheese, which I will admit I do have it once a month- if I want it. But no, it's not an all the time thing. and meat is just an all around never anymore. I totally decided that, after going back and forth being vegetarian. I just don't like it any more. I do like fish- but I'm not even sure I'm ok with that anymore. I don't like titling myself anything, cause from there you have to go into details about everything, because I'm not true vegan if I have cheese 1 time at the end of every month. I know that. But yes- I avoid dairy 99 % of the time. And yes- it does help, it does make me feel better. My stomach is now in the zone where it craves these plant based foods- and I love that. Something I'm doing is right! The only thing I know I need to figure out is how to have a balanced workout routine. I know I'm busy working, we all are. But we can't lie- those times where we have just 30minutes to an hour, of doing that nothing- it could be changed into that something. and you know it. So lets help each other out and lets do that something for just 30 minutes 4-5x a week. Then we can kick that up a notch. You with me?
This week I challenge you to do some sort of cardio activity for 30 minutes 5 days. You pick the days and you utilize those 30 minutes. Come on now, we've all got 30 minutes of spare time! Use it wisely ;)
Wish all of you a wonderful February 3rd- and of course my best friend on her birthday- the best!
February is going to be a great month. Not everyone had the best January- we know, believe me. We were there for it. But we can change this one into the opposite. You with me?
